Prof., Ted Becker´s The Last Lost Empire is a book based on political economy and written by a political scientist, which makes it much more interesting than if it were written by an economist. It is an online, digital book filled with YouTubes, animations, slide shows, illustrations, and computer games all designed to engage the reader. It is quite effective, but if you need a printed edition, the publisher sends it to you free once you buy the CD of the book

The volume shows how the hopes and dreams of ordinary Americans for a true democracy during and after the American Revolution was followed by a power struggle with American oligarchs. Through their invention of the U.S. Constitution, what has emerged over the centuries is the hegemony of mammoth national, and then transnational, corporations now dominating America’s, and our world’s, political economies.

Not the least of these organizations is the U.S.A’s military-industrial complex, which has constantly pursued unlimited national expansion and profits despite costs and despite starting and waging illogical and unwarranted wars.

Professor Becker and I both believe the only one way to stop this ominous development is for the people of Earth to assume control of all political decisions, themselves, by introducing elements of direct democracy into their respective political-economic systems—or by changing these systems from the ground up into direct democracies.

The Last, Lost Empire should be a standard textbook at all social science departments the world over. It emphasizes that all of Earth's governments on this planet are either total, or mostly, oligarchies. For that alone, it is a unique, timely, salient and correct contribution.

How many Americans know that some of the wealthiest, most powerful citizens of the republic helped the Nazis during World War II, hoping the Nazi juggarnaut would invade and defeat U.S. forces? The ignorance is nothing to be ashamed of, for most Americans could never imagine such a heinous thing . And yet, it's an undisputable truth.

Drawing his account from thousands of documents, Charles Higham gives a mind-boggling picture of the American business men and U.S. government officials who dealt with the Nazis right through World War II.

One of the stories Higham recounts is that of the Bank of International Settlements in Basl Switzerland. The BIS was Nazi controlled but, believe it or not, presided over by an American. It seems that 378 million dollars in gold stolen from banks in Austria, Belgium, and Czechoslavakia was sent to the BIS, presumably, to be used by Nazi leaders after the war. Much of the gold was reported to have come from melted down teeth fillings, eyeglass frames, and wedding rings of murdered Jews. The book contains many other horrifying stories of American-Nazi involvement during the conflict. As Americans should know more about their past than they do, this is a must-read
