PAINE COULD JUST AS EASILY HAVE SAID, "if you don't participate, the future will not be yours, any more than it belonged to your parent's." And why not? Because in all probability neither your parents nor your grandparents participated in government or civil matters affecting their lives; they merely went to the polls and voted for someone else to make the important decisions for them.

But voting for other people to make important decisions of social life is not the way mature, responsible people would function. Nor is it the way to build a true democracy or retain the freedoms earned by the blood of so many patriotic Americans. It's why, after 222 years of pseudo-democracy, so few American families now own so much of the nation's natural and productive resources, and why poverty and homelessness in the republic today is overwhelming.x

The solutions to these problems aren't dependent upon which political party wields the power of government, for it is the American System that must be changed. It is the American System, itself, that produces poverty, homelessness, ignorance and frustration for so many millions of common Americans. The culprit is this system, created by the Constitution of the United States that was written by wealthy Americans for the benefit of wealthy Americans and the exclusion of common Americans.

It's why so many commoner mothers have been forced into the workplace instead of remaining at home to care of their children, and why there are so many confused and angry children seeking stability and sanity in their insane, hostile social environments.

It's why, in this era of unlimited information sources, we are not a nation of educated, civic minded "citizens" capable of self-government, or capable of meeting the demands of our exploding sciences and technologies, but we are ignorant, compulsive junk junkies. Today's ruling classes have learned well the lesson that it's easier and more effective to enslave the human brain than the human body.

It's why the American public school systems intellectually cripple the children of working families, many of whom can hardly read, many who have the attention span of infants, and many who are ignorant of the country's true history. Read the words of concerned American patriot, Walter Karp, in his The Teaching of History and Why Johnny Can't Think.

Don't ever be fooled by the illusion of economic prosperity painted by the Establishment media. Common sense says a nation isn't prosperous, if workers can't earn wages to afford the things they need and want without using "credit cards" and going into debt. The staggering debts of our local, state, and national governments—and millions of American workers—shout the lie of our national "prosperity."

This site offers a realistic plan to change the representative democracy of the U.S. into a true democracy— a people's government that concerns itself with the welfare of all Americans, not just white Americans, male Americans, and rich Americans.

If you read nothing more of this website, read the denunciation of the American System by the young college students of the 60's and 70's in their famous "Port Huron Manifesto." It is a scathing and accurate condemnation of the American System as has ever been made by a group of Americans. Or perhaps, you might be interested in a philosophy of life called "Active Humanism" that is a simple, but much needed philosophy for Americans in these very dangerous times.
